SW MN IPM Stuff 2024 Note 1

5/1/2024 |  Volume 27 Note 1

Several folks have contacted me about scarab beetles and white grubs they have found while digging in fields.

There are more white grubs out there than just May/June beetles or Japanese beetles. While most May/June beetles have three-year life cycles, other types of white grubs have annual life cycles. Knowing which of the grubs you've encountered will help you decide on management.

If you find a white grub in a crop field, odds are it will be a May/June beetle (Phyllophaga) species. This Michigan State University will help you determine the type of white grub larvae you've found:.

Happy Trails!
